Lead Pastor
Paul Mather
Pastor Paul was born and raised in this valley and has lived here for most of his life. He grew up in a pastor's home and comes from a long line of preachers. Although saved as a child, he strayed far from God for many years until, he came to his senses while living in the "pig pen"; just as the prodigal son in the Bible. He was radically transformed by the power of God, and God began to restore the "years that the canker worm had eaten." His life verse is: Jeremiah 29:11; "'For I know the plans I have for you' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" To know that God still had a plan for his life was a life-changing reality.
He is married to a wonderful woman, Jennifer and they have 4 amazing children: Benjamin, Hannah, Boaz & Noah. He began his ministry as the Youth Pastor here at New Life, serving and loving a thriving group of un-churched teens. In 1997, God called him into the ministry to pastor at New Life as its lead pastor. He has served here ever since.
Pastor Paul is credentialed through IMF (International Ministerial Ministries) and serves as a Regional Area Pastor for this fellowship. Pastor Paul has also served on the servant Leadership Team of COTTT (Churches of the Twin Tiers). His gifts and call has always been best suited for an inner-city ministry like New Life, as he loves to serve and minister to those who find themselves in need and in difficult times. For all of his ministry years, he has lived and raised his family in the same neighborhoods that the church has been planted. He lives by the motto "Slow & Steady Wins the Race", and is committed to loving and serving wherever and however God leads him to.
